Once in a decade or two an author enlightens their readers and takes them on an astonishing journey that alters the course in character writing or story line as did author Anne Rice in the book "Interview with a Vampire" in 1979. Decades later Stephenie Meyer author of the "Twilight" started yet another blitz of Vampire authors, sending them all back to their keyboards. Now Sharon Ricklin has accomplished yet a further in depth examination of characters and story. Everything about a character in a story that we once thought typical for that character in any related story at most remained concrete until this author once again alters the course of Vampire folklore. Sharon will surely entice all seasoned and new writers to go back to their scripts for a rewrite.
The moment of a vampire bite and transition will never be written the same. The title could have been Fifty Shades of Red as it had me turning pages frantically and wanting to be turned myself. Here is a vampire story from an author who is member of Romance Writers of America but here and now... a romance vampire story with a twist!
In a few words that come to mind about this story: romance, love, trust, vengeance, power, mystical, graphical, legends.

I thoroughly enjoyed Ravenswynd Legends. I never imagined what it might be like to be turned by a vampire, but a few pages in to this story and I had to know. I could not set it down. Now I am thirsting for more. Best read late on a moonlit night, with a flickering candle's dancing shadows and a goblet of wine - color me dark burgundy!
Delicious good read. I could not put this book down, I wanted to know what happened in it. I am now looking forward to reading the second book in this series. Two thumbs up, great story. Plus, I love the cover on the book, the artwork is stunning.
Kudos to Sharon Ricklin! She has easily placed herself in ranks with, Stephanie Meyer, with her book 'Ravenswynd Legends' the first in a four book series. Will there be a book five? I, for one, am keeping my fingers crossed! She has mastered her craft in that she knows exactly how to keep her reader quickly turning the pages, unwilling to lay the book down, having to know what will happen next. Her graphic details in the transition from human to vampire, left nothing lacking. The characters, the venue, and the dialogue are well written and very believable. This woman did her research!
If you are a Vampire fan, a 'Twilight' fan, or just a lover of romance in general, I promise you will not be disappointed with this book. I highly recommend it to readers of all ages.
I was twenty-two again, young and beautiful, as curious and adventurous as I was naive, armed with both my twin sister and my best friend, embarking on an audacious journey, in pursuit of a secret legend and maybe even to become sanctioned for eternal membership in this clandestine yet powerfully compelling society. Yet I had already met my soul mate, hadn’t I? What would become of us? Life-affirming, death-affirming, and gripping. A fantastic read that will propel you directly into Elizabeth’s world so forcefully that for the duration, you will become her.
