I Meme It!

A Post About Memes

Don't you just love memes? We probably see hundreds of them each time we scroll through facebook, twitter, or even pinterest.

     Wait!

If you've been living under a rock for the past few years, a meme is a virally transmitted cultural symbol or social idea. There's usually a picture with one or two sentences, most often they're intended to be funny, but now and then, they might be more philosophical or may even ridicule human behavior.

Some memes are political in nature, some are  just pets with silly thoughts.

Here are a few of my favorite writing memes:

I've even made a couple of my own:

(I made the one at the top of this post too!)

Some memes are there just for a giggle or two:

Some are meant to be deep and thoughtful...

  Or inspirational:

And some just tell it like it is:

Speaking of books... I'm going to get back to
writing now...

Have a terrific day, and don't forget:

Have YOU made any memes? Feel free to post them in the comments!

I'm Guest Blogging Today!

Hey all you awesome followers!

Today I am a guest blogger at Shelley Workinger's Blog. It's a Fun-Food-Filled blog, called BWATE, which is short for

But What Are They Eating?

It's really cool, and you should seriously check it out. (And not just my post, but you should follow her so you can get updates too.)

And, while you're there, check out some of the previous posts - they're all awesome!

(It's one of those blogs where you wish you'd thought of it first...and I guarantee, you will be hungry after reading it)

Here's the link:       BWATE

Have fun!

And thanks for reading!

Mystery of the missing photos.

How do you like the new look of my blog?  There were several reasons why I had to change it, yet again.

I read Anne R. Allen's Blog earlier tonight and it was all about the do's and don'ts of blogging. (You should read it if you're a blogger; it was really good!)

One of her suggestions was that we should never have a dark background with light text,    ...which was exactly what I had.  :(
Anne says it's harder to read, especially for some of the older folks.

So as I'm checking out my last blog post to see how hard it is to read, I find 5 of my pictures are missing! Instead of the photos I had; there were big black squares with a minus sign inside. Just like this:

It took me a while to figure out why this happened, but I think I did.

Apparently, when you have your Google account linked with your phone (which I do) and then you use the photos you've taken with your phone (that are automatically saved on your Google+ profile) and use them within your blog...(which I did) and then sometime later you delete said photos, (which I did) they tend to disappear from the blog! Wow.

Why didn't I know that? And furthermore, why didn't someone tell us?

Anyway, the whole post looked really stupid with those missing photos...AND it WAS hard to read...so here we are...blogging after midnight, without any original ideas of my own to share.

Check out Anne's blog.  You'll be glad you did.

Have a great week!

IT GOT ME!

Dear Readers,

I just looked up the meaning of the word - Syndrome on WordWeb -
This is one of the meanings I found -
Syndrome: a complex of concurrent things.

And now I think I'm suffering from a new syndrome.

They call this new syndrome SNAPOS.
Short for:
               Social
               Networking
               And
               Promoting
               Overload
               Syndrome

(No one really knows who "They" are)

SNAPOS makes one tired, irritable, lethargic, and basically - sick of the computer.  For a writer, that is a very BAD thing.

This is a fairly new syndrome, so new in fact, that most physicians are completely unaware of it. At the current time, the main carriers of this syndrome tend to be indie writers who spend far too much time on the internet doing all sorts of things in the name of MARKETING. Some of these things may include, but are not limited to:
Blogging, Networking, Face-booking (posting-sharing-liking), Pinning, Tweeting, Google-plus-ing, YouTube uploading, Goodreads-reviewing, Linking-In, and last but certainly not least, having a WEBSITE of their very own.

In addition to a regular Facebook Profile, some writers have set up a Facebook Page specifically geared for their writing and/or individual Book or Series. Perhaps they even have two or more Google+ pages, one Personal and one for their Book Series. Many have uploaded their book-trailers to YouTube. And most of them have a Blog and Twitter accounts as well as Pinterest, GoodReads, and LinkedIn accounts.  All in the hopes of advertising their books...having an "Online Presence" AND...Getting their NAME out there...

But here's what's really happening:
Raring to GO!
Here we go...

Going...going...
almost gone...

GONE
Just looking at all this work  networking is making me dizzy...

By the way; Social Networking and Promoting Overload Syndrome (SNAPOS)is no respecter of race, ethnicity, religion, creed, color, gender, level of education, genre choice, or planet of origin.  If you are an Indie Writer, SNAPOS will get you in the end, and you will wonder why you have no energy left for actually living your life, much less doing what you love the most: Writing.

Since there is no cure for SNAPOS, I suggest you  Do nothing for 2 minutes  at least once every day. It may help... and it's quite relaxing. (Turn you speakers on)

THIS is my new favorite picture/meme:

Try to have a great (productive) week!

And thanks for reading/commenting/clicking on the blue links.

Aspiring Author: Rachael Soderstrom

Okay, here comes a bit of bragging...but what can I say, I'm a very proud grandma!!

May 10th - Rachael's 17th Birthday

My grand daughter, Rachael has been writing stories for quite some time and has been working on her novel for years.  She has now ventured out into the world of networking!  She joined with me and my writer "wolf-clan" over at the "Writer's Circle" - a group of awesomesauce writers on Facebook.  (You know who you are!)

And now, she's created a Writer's page on FaceBook and also started her own Blog!

It made me proud, happy, and excited to hear her squeal with joy each time another person followed her or liked her page tonight.   We were on the phone, on Facebook, and on her blog all at the same time while I helped her figure out a few of the glitchy things on each site.  We laughed together, we got excited together, and even after we hung up, I continued to watch her blog gain a few more followers! It's so cool to know she will wake up tomorrow with even more followers and comments posted on her blog.

Of course, this grandma posted links all over the place...I even sent it to my Twitter account! Can you blame me?  Look at this awesome kid!

Rachael is going to be a famous author one day...I just know it.  She has a passion for writing that not many have at such a young age. And her imagination is out of this world!

Please take a peek at (and follow) her brand new Blog here:

Thanking all of you in advance!

Blog-Hog?

It's  been one week since I started this blog, and as I continue to network with other writers I am slowing leaning all the ins and outs of blogging.  Many bloggers have links to their Twitter and/or FaceBook accounts, and many have links to their own web sites.  I have spent numerous hours reading other blogs on blogging, the etiquette of blogging, and why you should or should not blog.

The one thing I am still not certain of is:  Am I being a blog-hog by emailing all my friends and relatives about my blog?  Am I being too pushy when I attach my blog address to my Tweets or my FaceBook profile here and there? What about commenting on other blogs and then as a side note, mentioning my blog?  And of course, in each and every mention of my blog, I am asking people to follow me. (oink-oink)

Any advice out there from fellow-bloggers?  How did you get others to follow you without sounding too pushy, demanding, or oinky?

In closing I'd like to thank all of you who chose to read my blog and to follow me as well!  And to those who read, followed, and left a comment: you are my hero!

PS.  My editor just sent me chapter 37.  I am starting to get a bit anxious now.  Soon I shall have to stop blogging about the query letter and get down to business and do it.  Wish me luck!
