It's been one week since I started this blog, and as I continue to network with other writers I am slowing leaning all the ins and outs of blogging. Many bloggers have links to their Twitter and/or FaceBook accounts, and many have links to their own web sites. I have spent numerous hours reading other blogs on blogging, the etiquette of blogging, and why you should or should not blog.
The one thing I am still not certain of is: Am I being a blog-hog by emailing all my friends and relatives about my blog? Am I being too pushy when I attach my blog address to my Tweets or my FaceBook profile here and there? What about commenting on other blogs and then as a side note, mentioning my blog? And of course, in each and every mention of my blog, I am asking people to follow me. (oink-oink)
Any advice out there from fellow-bloggers? How did you get others to follow you without sounding too pushy, demanding, or oinky?
In closing I'd like to thank all of you who chose to read my blog and to follow me as well! And to those who read, followed, and left a comment: you are my hero!
PS. My editor just sent me chapter 37. I am starting to get a bit anxious now. Soon I shall have to stop blogging about the query letter and get down to business and do it. Wish me luck!

Blog hog--that's funny!
ReplyDeleteThe best way for people to know about your blog is to comment on their blog. Most people will come and visit and see your blog, etc... It's like getting to know people. It'll take some time. :)
I'm glad you liked my words, Jennifer!
ReplyDeleteAnd, you're right, it will take some time...
(and I know I already posted this comment, but have no clue where it went!)

Best way to get followers is not to be shy about following other bloggers. And don't only follow them, but comment on their posts. Works 90% of the time (which is a high % since I've tried many different ways)

Lyn,
ReplyDeleteThanks for following me! And yes, you are so right! You are living proof if it...I commented on your blog last night...and here you are!!
Sharon :)
I find that people don't do much unless you ask them directly. So, politely, with gratitude, I ask people to read certain blog posts. It does feel pushy, but do it with finesse and you'll be fine. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessica! And, thanks for following! :)

A well written and informative blog, Sharon. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others. You've just got to put yourself out there and as one of you "hogged", I didn't find it pushy at all. Rather enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteLiking your posts! You're in my feed reader. ;)
